  • Who knows what New York public housing residents are capable of?

It's all here, every form of resident creativity. Painting. Drawing. Photography. Music. The Performing Arts.

StudioNYCHA showcases the artistry of those who live in the public housing developments of the New York City Housing Authority, or in private dwellings of the Section 8 program administered by NYCHA. Some 400,000 people reside in 334 NYCHA developments found in every borough of New York City. Another 235,000 or so live in privately-owned buildings scattered among the five boroughs. Making up almost 8% of New York City, this combined population exceeds that of Baltimore. A vast talent pool, low in family income, but high in determination, pride, perseverance, and community spirit.

Here you will find the annual art show and talent show prizewinners. Performances staged at world-renowned venues. Photographs documenting lives in the developments. Symphonies. Choruses. And more.

Who knows what New York public housing residents are capable of?

    Now you will.
